Who I am
Appreciate Counselling and Coaching is run by Jacqui Reich. I am the data controller for the personal information you share with me, which means I decide how it is used and I am responsible for keeping it safe.
Registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO): [ICO registration number]. You can contact me about anything in this notice at jacqui@appreciatecounselling.com.
What information I collect
When you get in touch through this website, by email or by phone, I collect the details you choose to give me: usually your name, email address, phone number and your message.
If we work together, I also keep brief session notes and any information you share about your health, wellbeing or circumstances. This counts as special category data under UK GDPR, so I take extra care with it.
This website does not use tracking or advertising cookies.
Why I use it, and the lawful basis
I use your information to reply to your enquiry, arrange and deliver sessions, keep appropriate records and meet my professional and legal obligations.
My lawful bases under UK GDPR are: taking steps at your request before entering into an agreement, and carrying out that agreement (Article 6(1)(b)); my legitimate interests in running my practice safely (Article 6(1)(f)); and, for health information, the provision of health or social care, including counselling, under Article 9(2)(h) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
Confidentiality
What you share in sessions is confidential. I will only share information without your consent in rare circumstances: if I believe you or someone else is at serious risk of harm, or if the law requires it. Where possible, I would talk to you first.
As a member of the BACP and NCPS, I attend regular clinical supervision. I may discuss our work there, but never in a way that identifies you.
Who I share it with
I do not sell your information or share it for marketing. I only use trusted services needed to run my practice, such as secure email, video calling and encrypted note storage, and only where they protect your data to UK GDPR standards.
Messages sent through the contact form on this website are delivered by Formspree, and the form is protected from spam by Cloudflare Turnstile.
How long I keep it
If you contact me but we do not go on to work together, I delete your enquiry within 6 months.
If we work together, I keep session notes and contact details securely for 7 years after our last session, in line with professional guidance, and then destroy them securely.
Keeping it safe
Paper notes are stored in a locked cabinet. Digital records are kept on password-protected, encrypted devices and services. Notes are kept separately from anything that would identify you.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to: access the information I hold about you; ask me to correct it; ask me to delete it; ask me to limit how I use it; object to how I use it; and ask for a copy to give to someone else.
Some rights have limits; for example, I may need to keep certain records for legal or professional reasons. To use any of these rights, email me and I will respond within one month.
Making a complaint
If you are unhappy with how I have handled your information, please tell me first so I can try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
