What is counselling and how can it help me?

Counselling is a safe, confidential space to explore your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours with a qualified professional. It can help you gain clarity, develop coping strategies, and heal from difficult experiences. My approach is integrative and person-centred, meaning I tailor each session to your unique needs and focus on supporting you in a compassionate, non-judgmental way.

What is coaching and how is it different from counselling?

Coaching focuses on helping you identify goals, overcome obstacles, and achieve personal or professional growth. Unlike counselling, it is typically more action-oriented and future-focused. My coaching practice draws on my experience in workplace settings, making it especially valuable for navigating career transitions, leadership challenges, and self-development.

How do I know if counselling or coaching is right for me?

If you’re seeking to heal from past experiences, manage emotional challenges, or work through a specific issue, counselling may be the best fit. If you’re looking to set and achieve goals, develop specific skills, or make strategic life changes, coaching could be more appropriate. Combining counselling and coaching can be very beneficial for some clients, depending on what you are presenting with. During our initial consultation, we can discuss what approach may be most beneficial for you.

What can I expect in a session?

Sessions typically last 50 minutes and are client-led, meaning you decide what to focus on. We can work together to explore your concerns, set goals, and develop strategies to support your well-being. My approach is collaborative, ensuring you feel heard and empowered throughout the process.

Are sessions confidential?

Yes, all sessions are strictly confidential, with a few exceptions where I am legally required to disclose information (e.g., risk of harm to self or others). We will discuss these exceptions during our first session.

Where do in-person sessions take place?

I use The Practice Rooms in Westbury-on-Trym in Bristol. The address is: 57-59 High St, Bristol BS9 3ED
